EVANS posted by Joyce Escue Culver on Wednesday, September 15, 1999

I'm looking for info on a Margaret (Maggie) EVANS  (b Oct 1841 Wales) who married James Isaac DAVIS abt 1861 in PA, I believe; he was born abt 1835, poss WV. Maggie Evans father was David Evans, mother not sure, but possibly Margaret Thomas.  Family tradition has it that Margaret died either before coming or during trip to America about 1846.  He supposedly left Maggie with a sister or sister in law, and joined a survey party for a new state, unclear as to whether for the RR or state itself. They migrated to IL, via IN, having children along the way.  This is all I have of their early history.  Does this story sound familar?

MONELLA, MONELLO posted by David J Derfler on Wednesday, September 15, 1999

Looking for information on a Giovanni (John) MONELLO OR MONELLA.    My grandmother Antionette was born 11/25/1904 in Philadelphia and baptized at our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 816 Christian Street on December 10, 1904.  She never knew her parents. Her mother I think the first name was Maria BASIA or BASIO passed away within the next few years and Giovanni, her father died while working for the railroad in Philadelphia sometime between 1905-1908 timeframe. I'm looking for information on her mother and father.  Can you tell me what cemetery or cemeteries would be associated with Our Lady of Good Counsel?  If the church would have those records or the archdiocese. Also, the best way to look through Philadelphia Inquirer's for those years.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank You.

Wasmars in the late 1800's or early 1900's and in the 1920 census Jennie and her children, Henriette and Bertha, along with her sister Rose were listed at 1412 South 55th in Philadelphia.  Since Jennie was listed as head of the house I can only assume that she was either widowed or divorced by this time.  Would definitely like to contact her descendents as I believe we are related.
