BULMER, RUPP posted by Gail Faries on Friday, January 15, 1999

Searching for info on the RUPP and BULMER Families of Philadelphia, particularly LYDIA RUPP, born between 1842-1852. She married JOHN BULMER and their daughter was MARY A. BULMER, born 5/10/1870. I have been told that John was lost at sea when Mary was a young child and that Lydia lived at 8th and Christian Sts. and sold penny candy (?) That would have probably been between 1872-1885. The earliest documentation I have on Mary is her marriage bond, 1886-Lewes, Delaware. I have really hit a brick wall here! Any information, advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciate!

He met his wife, Mary RIDGWAY, in Philadelphia (Mary was born in Philadelphia and is part of the well know New Jersey RIDGWAY family - hence I have a lot of information on her). They married 27 Nov 1821 in Lambertsville, New Jersey. This man seems to have always been on the move. He had 8 children and eventually left his wife in New York. I can not seem to find his family.

DEARING, DEERING, GREEN posted by Christopher William Dearing on Friday, January 15, 1999

I am looking for any information on the Deering's from Ireland and those who emigrated to Philadelphia. I am looking for any information on Christopher Deering b. 1828 in Usk, County Kildare, Ireland and Julia Deering (nee) Duffy b. March 21, 1821 in Milltown, County Wicklow, Ireland. They married around 1855 somewhere in Philadelphia. This is something I would like to find out. They had 5 children of which I am looking for any information on the eldest son William. I am trying to find out when and where he married Mary E. Green. They had 6 children together and resided at 51 N. 51st Street. William C. Deering was b. 1856 and died Feb. 24, 1909. He was buried at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery along with his parents. I do not know when his wife died because she and William were separated for many years before his death. William was the sole survivor of the Deering murders that took place in the First Ward of the city on April 7, 1866. It was one of the most sensationalized murders in the county at that time. His parents were murdered one-by-one with an axe along with his four siblings, his father's niece (Elizabeth Dolan) and an adopted boy. They found and hung the man who was responsible, however, William was left an orphan at 10 years of age. He was taken care of by his mothers parents, William and Bridget Duffy in West Philadelphia. Any information would be great. Thanks!

BAER posted by Dennis Baer on Friday, January 15, 1999

I seek any information about the birth of Louis Baer in Philadelphia in 1861 or in 1862. His son Leon Baer, born in Brooklyn, NY May 5, 1892 shows that Louis Baer stood at age 30 on that date, so I project that Louis birth appears in 1861 or 1862 in Philadelphia. Louis Baer lived in Brooklyn, NY on 509 Broadway in May 5,1892 and worked as a merchant. Louis came from German background but born in the US and according to my father in Philadelphia in a vague recollection. Religion: Jewish. If I can find a volunteer near the Philadelphia city archives to search the short indexes under the bin B L for Louis Baer in the years 1861 and 1862 that would appear fine. Thank you.
