MOUNT posted by Mary Rantz on Wednesday, October 15, 1997

I'm searching for any information on my great-grandfather, ELIJAH THOMAS MOUNT. He married JOSEPHINE THOMAS, probably in the 1860's, and had five children who were all baptized in March, 1876 in St. Clement's Episcopal Church in Philadelphia. He is listed as a "driver" on my grandfather's (THOMAS MOUNT) birth certificate in 1869. My grandmother was listed as a widow in the 1880 census and was living at 3133 Ludlow Street in Philadelphia at that time. I do not know when or where Elijah was born or when or where he died. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you,

JONES posted by Barbara Lynch on Wednesday, October 15, 1997

I am looking for a Thomas JONES, who lived in Pittsburgh in the year or years around 1883. My understanding is that he was part owner in the Jones and Lockland Steel company which is now closed. He was married to a Louella Whitaker who moved back to Philadelphia after the birth of their daughter Alice was born in November of 1883. My understanding is that they might have gotten divorced due to the fact that Thomas was not happy about the birth of the child because it was a girl and not a boy. I do not know if he ever followed them back to Philadelphia or not. If anyone has any type of information I would greatly appreciate it as I have hit a dead end with this. Thanks!!

WEIGAND, Hermann or Elsie Hermann born 24 July 1889, 1736 Bambrey St., Phil, died 7 Aug 1889 and is supposed to be buried in German Lutheran Cemetery. I can't find the cemetery. Can anyone help. Elsie was born 25 October 1890 at 2329 Thompson St., Phil. I found this address. Her father Hermann Weigand became a Lutheran pastor and attended Christus Kirche on the corner of 26th and Columbia (now called Cecil B. Moore Ave.), prior to becoming a pastor. I found a small church called "The House of God" which I presume is the original location of Christus Kirche, which closed its doors in 1948. Am I on the right track? They were both immigrants from Germany so I presume this neighborhood was relatively German.

ADAMS, KORN, TOELK, WILKINS posted by Wendy Wilkins Valdez on Wednesday, October 15, 1997

I am seeking information on my grandfather and his family, assuming what was passed down is accurate. My grandfather was Russell Wilhide WILKINS, born June 4, 1900 to Harry WILKINS and Jenny ADAMS TOELK WILKINS. However, when I acquired the 1900 Census, Harry was listed with a different wife (Mary) and no son named Russell, although the brothers and sisters were there. I do know that Jenny was Harry's housekeeper before she became his wife and that she was supposedly married before to a man named TOELK, having a son Albert. This may well have been a "scandelous" relationship, but I still would like to find out about my WILKINS line -if indeed it is WILKINS. Supposedly, Russell's birth records were lost and Harry had to sign an affadavit attesting to his birth. Russell was baptized/christened at a church named Faith Tabernacle. They lived on York, halfway between 6th & 7th. Harry owned a carpet/tile (?) business on the corner and owned a summer home in Pitman, NJ. Jenny ADAMS was from Maryland, but her father worked for the PR & R and had a home in Williamsport. Harry WILKINS was born in Norristown in 1854(6?). By the 1860 Census, his father was born in NJ, so I'm full circle in mystery! Any help would be much appreciated!!! One of Russell's sisters married Otto KORN, who begat Otto KORN, JR, et al, if that's of any help.

GOOD posted by John Greig on Wednesday, October 15, 1997

I have very limited information. My father's father's name was supposed to be George Good. Although he lived in Somserset, spelling??, my father's birth certificate says he was born in Philadelphia. His mother was Mary Burkett, and she also had family in Somerset. George Good was supposedly of German extraction. I guess then the Good name had been Anglisized some time after it got here. Mary was born in 1888. Therefore, I assume George would have been born no ealier than 1870. In 1958 I met a man in Somerset who I believe was George's brother. He was much less than warm. Often wonder if he feared I was looking for some sort of inheritance. I certainley wasn't. I just want family history. Any help anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
