I'm searching for information on my grandfather, Spencer Amlaw. I recently found out his gravestone is at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Lansdowne, PA. My uncle went to vist it and found it was broken in half. I contacted the cemetery and they said the plot owner was Robert Amlaw. We have no Robert Amlaw on are side of the family. My grandmother was seperated from him for 5 years and I'm wondering if he had a family in PA. I would like to get a copy of the obituary, but I don't even know what paper was around back then. The good news is the VA will replace the gravestone at no charge.

WALSH posted by Martha Little on Sunday, December 15, 1996

Looking for information regarding Wilbur Elcero WALSH (may have also been using Edmund Elcero WALSH). I have been told several stories regarding my GF that I need to verify. He broke with his family at an early age. Can anyone verify or rule out any of the following:
  1. Was there a Central High in Philadelphia open between 1910 and 1915? If so, is there any chance of verifying his graduation?
  2. Was there a Midval Steel Company in operation in Philadelphia between 1915 and 1920?
  3. My grandfather is known to have attended Univ of PA. Are there yearbooks that may have pictures of undergraduates or of the boxing team circa 1911-1915?
  4. Is there an index of deaths occurring in Philadelphia between 1910 and 1915? If so, does a James WALSH appear on this listing? One wild story has Wilbur's father (James) dying on a streetcar on his way to Wilbur's graduation (high school or college is not known).

The vagueness of dates results from what we know is Wilbur's birthyear of 1891 and his job applications that state that he was born in 1896. He states that he went to Central High, but I've not been able to locate the family in Philadelphia via census. He also states that he did not graduate from Univ of PA when he later said that he did.

Looking for connections to Peter Devlin (b 1810 in Ireland) and Susan Kennedy? (b 1815 in PA). They were married in 1835 at St Augustine RC Church in Philadelphia. They had six children: Lucy (1836), Isabella? (1839), Sarah (1841), James (1843), John H. (1846), Mary (1847) all born in Philadelphia. John H. was a Civil War veteran. I descend from Lucy. Any information appreciated.
