DOAN

I am searching for information about an Emily Doan who lived in Philadelphia in the late 1800's. She raised my grandfather, Casper Doan. He was always told that he was adopted; but there was the feeling that perhaps he was adopted from within the family or was actually Emily's son. She was not married. My grandfather was born in 1883 and was raised in Philadelphia and worked as a trolley motorman. He married Alberta Craven from Bucks County and moved to Bucks County and became a farmer. I am trying to determine if he might, in fact, have been a Doan and therefore, I as well.

On November 16, 1796, Elizibeth married Samual BLAKEY in Falls Township, the Reverend Issac Hicks presiding.   Have an Orphans Court record (#2029) from Bucks County dated November 19, 1790 which speaks of the deceased Susannah STACKHOUSE, daughter Elizibeth STACKHOUSE, and minor son Benjamin STACKHOUSE.
