My grandfathers family was all from Philadelphia, and is my "brick wall". We know that branches of the PHY family came from North Carolina, but all indications are that this branch arrived in Philadelphia, and remained there until after WWII. My mom was Jennie S.Phy, daughter of Charles Phy. His father was also Charles Phy. His father was Jesse Phy. His father was Paul Phy, and his father was George Phy. I have no idea where they came from (the country), and would really like to try and find out. Any help is deeply appreciated.

I am searching an Elizabeth Skerrett who married Thomas Bonsall March 8, 1815, on at Friends Meeting House on Pine Street in Philadelphia. These are my ggggrandparents. I have hanging in my house a sampler that was done by Elizabeth and it says in 1804 in her tenth year. The only other thing I know from family writings is that her parents were James and Elizabeth Skerrett and I am trying to put together this family tree. I did discover John T. Humphrey's books "Pennsylvania Births in Philadelphia County" vol. 1 being 1644-1765 and vol. 2 1766-1780 and I figure Elizabeth was born abt 1794 so dies not fit those two books. I'm looking for info on ISAAC JONES. The only info I have is that he was born about 1750 in PA. and he had a daughter named Rebecca.

Rebecca Jones was born in 1790 in either Bucks Co., or York Co. She married Nathan Livezey (1775-1858) in 1801 at Abington Meeting. They moved to Indiana where they both died. Their children were: Hannah, Thomas, Amos, Charles, Rebeckah, Anthony, Ann, Nathan, Isaac, and Ezekiel. Rebecca and Nathan had a granddaughter named TACY-- Tacy seems to be a family name.

The families connected to the Livezeys were from Philadelphia, Montgomery, and Bucks Counties of PA. It seems like everyone connected started out in Philadelphia County.

I am just beginning my search for the origins of relatives from Lithuania. My grandfather, Hyman Benjamin (Chaim Bensine) Lundy (known as Dunda or Dondi in Russia) came to America around the turn of the century -1890’s. He married his cousin Mary (Mushel) Lundy, whether in the old country or here, I do not know.

Mary Lundy had two brothers, Herman Lundy and Michael Lundy also born in Russia.

I believe they entered the USA through Philadelphia where they lived. They had four sons. Louis Sylvan Lundy, b. 10/02/02 d. 03/10/55, my father, Albert Lundy, Robert Lundy, Carl Lundy.

I would appreciate any leads going back to Lithuania or any information you can share with me. Thanks,

Boyko Changed to Boike
Arrived in U.S. between 1896 and 1905. Migrated to Parlett OH. from Pittsburgh PA. Family (All ages as of 1900) Father, Jon (or John? ) age 35?, Spouse, Sophie (Specah?) age 35?, Sons : John age 18?, Joseph age 8, Peter age 6 and Stephen age 4. Name and spelling changed during WWI to Boike, Do not believe they knew the correct Hungarian spelling of the family name originally pronounced "Boy-Co now pronounced Boy-Key" Jon Sr. and John Jr. Probably entered U.S. before 1902 But not before 1896. Naturalization papers of Stephen Boike uses spelling of Boyke while his Hungarian birth certificate shows Boyko. My records indicate Stephen Boike was born in Hungary December 14 1896. Peter Boike was born in Hungary June 8 1894. Joseph Boike was born in Hungary on June 10 1892. I believe they entered the U.S. on the East coast .They Jon Sr. and John Jr. originally worked in Pittsburgh PA. after landing in the U.S.

I am seeking information on the above marriage which took place sometime between 1930 and 1935. Sara Brandt's date of birth is 11/20/1911. They may have been married at St. Edmond's Church located on 21st Street and Snyder Avenue in Philadelphia. The couple divorced quite early and their child, Irene, had no information on her father. Irene was baptized at St. Edmond's Church on October 29, 1933. Information on the divorce is also needed. Due to the lack of any information on the father such as date of birth, parents names, etc. I have been unable to locate information on the father in the 1930 Census. In 1930 Sara Brandt, is still living at home in Philadelphia with her parents so the marriage must have taken place after the Census was completed.

I am researching the family of Frederick and Hannah WALTERS. Their children were all born during the 1850's & 1860's in Philadelphia, PA. The children were: Katherine, Hannah, Helen, Ida, Magdalena, Emma, George, Frederick, William, Albert and Louis. George married Helen Carson in 1882 in Philadelphia and had two sons, Paul and H. Leslie. Paul became a medical doctor and moved to California in 1912 after he had married Clara Hildebrandt in Philadelphia in 1911.

I would love to have any information on the WALTERS or the HILDEBRANDT families if anyone recognizes any of those names above.

I am trying to find info on a relative that arrived in Philadelphia between 1760 and 1780. His name was James Sutherland, and he most likely was quite young (around 4 y.o.) when he arrived. I do not have any knowledge of other family members. He migrated to Virginia around 1780, and the trail back to Philadelphia we have not been able to pick up, but the bible says he arrived there. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

My great aunt, Bertha Ratz, came to Philadelphia from Russia in 1913 to be in her sister's (my grandmother) wedding. She died of TB on Jan. 1, 1916 at the age of 26. Vital Records has no record of her death. She did die in PA because the family went no further than Philadelphia at that time. The Emanuel German Lutheran Church at 4th & Carpenter records located at the Lutheran Theological Seminary shows she was buried at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Philadelphia. However, they have no record of her and said she may have been moved to another cemetery to make way for a housing project that was going to be built on the cemetery grounds. I checked with the other cemeteries they mentioned to me and no one has a record of her. I could not locate an obituary for her either. WHERE/HOW can I find her?

Thank you for your help.

My great grandmother, Emma (BROG) FREUND stated on census reports that she was born in Philadelphia in February 1857. Her parents were John and Catherina Brog who were both born in Switzerland but married in Sullivan County NY in May 1852. Emma had a brother, Wilhelm born 1854 and a sister, Louisa born 1859. I can find no trace of any of these people until Emma's marriage to my great grandfather in Nashville, TN in 1877. All of this information comes from a family Bible so I feel certain it is correct.

I would like to trace these folks if I can. I am trying to check the Philadelphia census for 1860 but it is such a formidable task I fear I'll go blind before I finish! I wonder if anyone would be able to steer me towards the area or ward of Philadelphia in 1860 which would have been the gathering place for immigrants of Swiss or German descent? It would help tremendously to eliminate some of the many wards of that city. If you feel that my query is too long, please feel free to edit it as you see fit. I appreciate any help you can give.
