ADAMS - John Joseph Adams, Sr., Levittown resident, John Joseph Adams Sr., 93, of Levittown, died Friday at Lower Bucks Hospital, Bristol Township.
  Born and raised in Philadelphia, Mr. Adams was a resident of Levittown since 1961.  He was employed as a truck driver with the family-owned firm, Adams Trucking Company, for 60 years.  He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Levittown.
  Husband of the late Mae F. Kelly Adams, Mr. Adams is survived by two daughters, Gertrude Baker of Columbus, Ohio and Catherine Morin of Levittown with whom he resided; a son, John J. Jr. of Folsom, Pa.; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Beck-O'Neill-Strouse Funeral Directors Inc., 7400 New Falls Road, Levittown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.  Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

EDWARD W. ADGIE, of Wildwood, died Wednesday at home. He served with the 941st engineers in the U.S. Army in both the European and North African campaigns in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 184 of Wildwood and the VFW Post No. 3509 of Wildwood. He was also very active with the American Cancer Society. Born in Philadelphia, he lived in Wildwood the past 25 years. Surviving are his wife, Lena P.; two sons, Edward W. Jr. of Sea Isle City and Matthew N. of Franklinville; two sisters, Mary D. Battista of Upper Darby, Pa., and Emma Prescott of Philadelphia, Pa.; a brother, Fred of Brooksville, Fla.; and four grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann's Church, 2900 Atlantic Ave., Wildwood. Burial will be in the Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery, Middle Township. Friends may call 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ingersoll-Greenwood Funeral Home, 1201 Central Ave., North Wildwood. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Cape May County Unit, P.O. Box 395, Ocean View, N.J. 08230.

AYERS - George W. Ayers, Jr. George W. Ayers, Jr., a retired PTC motorman, died Tuesday at Presbyterian Hospital. He was 75 and lived at 1203 S. 61st st. Mr. Ayers was with PTC for 47 years. He is survived by a son, George W., 3rd; a daughter, Mrs. Hettie Jenks; his mother, Mrs. Anna Ayers; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 P.M. tomorrow at John P. Donohue and Sons, 5400 Market st. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery.

GEORGE W. AYERS, 71, of Barrington, died Sunday at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, Camden. Mr. Ayers was a recently retired salesman at Macy's. BLACKBURN, Alexander W., Alexander W. Blackburn, a Native of Stafford County, but at one time a resident of this place, died last Thursday*. He was for many years Fire Marshal in Philadelphia and was also well know in connection with the Police Detective Department. The “Star” says he was at one time an Apprentice to W. P. BURKHART - Lieutenant Commander John R. CAREY - Idaho Statesman, Boise, Idaho, Tuesday, Nov. 29, 1938William G. Carey, 73, resident of Star, died Monday morning in a Boise hospital after a long illness. He was born October 8, 1865, in Philadelphia, Pa. He had lived in the vicinity of Boise for the past 25 years, coming here from Constantine, Mich. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Loretta Carey, by two sons, Merrill Carey, South Bend, Ind., and Lester Carey, Star, and by two brothers in Philadelphia, Pa. Edwin T. Chase, the well-known lawyer of this city, died on Saturday morning last, at his residence, No. 103 South Thirty-fourth street, of neuralgia of the stomach, in the sixty-fourth year of his age. He was born in Newburyport, Mass., and came to this city with his father in 1830. He studied law with J. Altamont Phillips, and was admitted to the bar in 1849. Mr. Chase was Deputy Prothonotary and Commissioner of Bail from 1843 to 1854, and Chief Real Estate Deputy under Sheriff Kern. He was a candidate for Prothonotary on the Republican ticket in 1856, receiving between 7000 and 8000 votes. He was appointed Assessor of Internal Revenue for the Fifth District of Pennsylvania in 1862 by President Lincoln, and served until Andrew Johnson's administration. In 1867 Judge Cadwalader appointed Mr. Chase Register in Bankruptcy, which position he held at the time of his death. Mr. Chase was a prominent Mason, and served actively with Company F. First Regiment, from June to August, 1863, and took part in several skirmishes.

CUCINOTTA, Natale, 84, of West Grove died Thursday, April 2, 1992, in Southern Chester County Medical Center, Jennersville, of an apparent heart attack. He was the husband of Rose Brucolieri Cucinotta. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Joseph and Marie DeFlavio Cucinotta. He was a stone mason and bricklayer and worked for Ernest DiSabatino & Sons in Wilmington, Del., for many years. He also worked for many other construction companies and retired in 1969.

He had resided in West Grove for the past 52 years. He was a member of the Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Church in West Grove. He was also a member of the Sons of Italy for over 50 years and a member of the Local 1 Bricklayers Union of Wilmington for more than 30 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Joseph A. Cucinotta Sr. of Colorado and Thomas A. Cucinotta of Michigan; a brother Harry Cucinotta of Somers Point, N.J. ; three sisters, Rose Ciazzo of Moorestown, N.J., Josephine Iatrola and Catherine Iatrola both of Philadelphia; a grandson; and a great-grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday. April 6, 1992, in the Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Church, West Grove. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, N.J.  Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, April 5, 1992, and on Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the Reilly DellaVecchia Funeral Home Inc., Cypress and Marshall Streets, Kennett Square.

FATAL ACCIDENT - Michael Delany, while engaged in digging a well, on a property on Church Lane, Germantown, resorted to a blast to remove a piece of rock.  The explosion occurred prematurely, and Delany was killed.  The deceased was a resident of Germantown.  An inquest was held on the body, and a verdict of accidentally killed was rendered.  Contributed by irshfrmr@hotmail.com

DeWITT, June 14, James Kearney, Sr., an old settler of the State since 1844, and of this county since 1854, died at his residence seven miles west of DeWitt, in Welton township, Sunday morning, age 80 years and three months. He was born in Ireland and came to Philadelphia in 1840, and thence to Scott County near Davenport, as above noted. He was at one time in the early 50's coroner of that county. He leaves one son, James, Jr., and his family on the home place, and an adopted daughter, Mrs. John Stephens of DeWitt, and many friends mourn his demise.
